What Happened

Area authorities are looking into a crash that injured a man at State Hwy 16 and 2nd St in Zapata, TX on November 20th, 2021. Officials say it happened around 6:50 p.m. A Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 32-year-old Zapata man is accused of failing to control its speed while headed westbound on TX 16 behind a Toyota Sienna. Investigators say the Silverado collided with Sienna and that the Zapata man suffered serious injuries. The 56-year-old Zapata man driving the Toyota and a 6-year-old passenger were both evaluated for possible injuries. Responding officers allege the Silverado driver may have been intoxicated while driving.
