What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a person at US 59 in Jackson County, TX on May 15th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 30-year-old Rocky Lee Leblanc was headed southbound on Hwy 59 when it reportedly collided with the rear of a dump truck. Investigators allege Leblanc reportedly fell asleep at the wheel prior to the crash. The Dodge became trapped under the rear of the truck, pinning his 21-year-old passenger in the vehicle. The passenger suffered serious injuries while Leblanc may have been charged with Failure to Control Speed.
