What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a driver at US 59 in Nacogdoches County, TX on August 7th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 9:40 p.m. A Dodge Ram hauling a trailer was headed southbound on US 59 when it took evasive action to a right shoulder to avoid a collision. The truck ahead was slowing to make a u-turn at the time and the Dodge sideswiped the truck before becoming jackknifed. The driver, a 63-year-old Brownsville man, suffered minor injuries. The other driver was not injured. Police listed turning improperly from the wrong lane on the part of the commercial truck as a contributing factor in the crash.
