What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a bicyclist at Quintana Rd in San Antonio, TX on January 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a Volkswagen Passat and SUV were allegedly street racing. Ahead of the vehicles was a VIA bus that was coming to a stop. Investigators believe the Volkswagen changed lanes in order to avoid hitting the bus before attempting to return to its previous lane. As it did, it struck a bicyclist, who was thrown from the bike in the collision. The Volkswagen is said to have fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the bicyclist. The cyclist, an unnamed male, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Police continue to search for the driver involved. Additional information was not available.
