What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a man at State Hwy 21 in Caldwell County, TX on September 17th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 1:33 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram operated by a 17-year-old male was headed westbound on Hwy 21 before it veered from its lane across a center divider. The truck collided with an eastbound Kia Forte operated by an unnamed 31-year-old Austin man. The Austin man was strapped in the vehicle following the collision and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. A 17-year-old passenger in the Dodge was hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver was reportedly unharmed and alleged to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
