Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed one person at State Hwy 31 and FM 850 in Smith County, TX on June 30th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 7:13 a.m. According to investigators, a box truck was westbound on State Hwy 31 before veering from the road, possibly due to driver fatigue. Reports say the vehicle lost control while trying to return to the road and entered into a ditch where it overturned. Authorities say a 49-year-old passenger in the truck, who was not publicly identified, was fatally injured. The 64-year-old driver, also not publicly identified, was seriously injured, reports say.
