What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed two people at Hwy 31 in Smith County, TX on September 22nd, 2023. Police say the incident happened as a Hyundai headed eastbound on Hwy 31 slowed to make a u-turn onto westbound Hwy 31. As it did so, investigators allege the vehicle turned when unsafe into the path of a Dodge Ram traveling behind the vehicle. The vehicles collided, leaving the driver of the Dodge with suspected non-life-threatening injuries. 59-year-old Margaret Reavis and 49-year-old Letha Frost suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
