What Happened

Authorities are investigating a collision that injured a driver at I-2 in Mission, TX on August 5th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 12:29 p.m. Accordion to investigators, a Jeep headed westbound on I-2 is accused of performing an unsafe lane change, striking the rear of a BMW in the process. The impact is said to have pushed the BMW into a Honda Odyssey in an adjacent lane and caused the Jeep to veered from the road and overturn. Police say the driver of the BMW, identified as 40-year-old Margarita Cantu, was seriously injured. The 16-year-old driver of the Jeep and a 43-year-old passenger in the BMW had possible, unconfirmed injuries. The driver of the Honda was allegedly uninjured.
