What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are ivnetigaitng a crash that killed a woman at FM 41 near Lubbock, TX on April 4th, 2023. Police say it happened around 11 a.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Aveo was allegedly traveling eastbound under the posted speed limit. Behind it was a Ford Expedition EL. Officials allege the Ford attempted to go around the slower moving Chevrolet and lost control, striking the rear of the car in the process. A passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as 61-year-old Margarita Martinez-Rodriguez, was killed in a collision. Two other occupants were hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the Ford was not injured. Right now, police do not have any additional details available to share.
