What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Bissonnet and Gessner in Houston, TX on August 19th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 5:05 p.m. Investigators say that a Nova bus ran a red light due to an approaching fire truck needing room to get through to its destination. As a result, the bus collided with a Subaru Impreza operated by 69-year-old Maria De La Cerda that had a green light. Cerda suffered minor injuries in the collision but allegedly did not want medical assistance at the scene. No one on the bus was injured. Witnesses at the scene were also allegedly able to confirm that the light for the Nova bus was red at the time.
