What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at Howard Ln in Austin, TX on August 20th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 11:33 p.m. A Fiat 500 operated by 50-year-old Maria Delrosario Mendez was reportedly traveling westbound in eastbound lanes on Howard when it crashed head-on into a Toyota Tundra operated by 43-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez. Mendez was hospitalized with serious injuries while Gonzalez was not injured. Police say hospital officials suspected that Mendez may have been under the influence of alcohol.
