Police say the incident happened around 9:06 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Optima operated by 40-year-old Clifton Grantham was northbound on FM 2720 at a curve in the roadway. Traveling southbound was a Toyota Tacoma operated by 62-year-old Maria Reyes. Officials allege the Kia veered into the southbound lane while traveling northbound, colliding head-on with the Toyota. Police say driver fatigue, possibly from medication, may have contributed to the collision. The crash left Grantham with fatal injuries at the scene. Reyes had serious injuries, reports say.
