What Happened

Garland Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at LBJ Freeway and Jupiter Rd in Garland, TX on February 3rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Investigators say a semi-truck carrying ice cream collided with a Good Samaritan. Officers say there was a previous collision and vehicles were stopped as individuals attempted to block off traffic. The truck lost control and struck the individuals, one of whom died. The victim was identified as 35-year-old Maria Trinidad Ortiz Gonzalez. Another person was seriously injured and hospitalized for treatment.
