What Happened

Texas Highway Patrol officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at Hwy 64 in Tyler, TX on April 24th, 2022. Police say the incident happened just past 1:30 a.m. According the investigators, 18-year-old Marissa July-McCuin was attempting to cross Hwy 64 by foot when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and McCuin suffered serious injuries. She was taken to an area hospital where she later died. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Justin Pierce, was later located and arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and accident involving death.
