What Happened

Area authorities have arrested a driver in connection with a crash that killed a person at South Grant Ave in Odessa, TX on August 23rd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 10:51 p.m. They say a Toyota Camry operated by 21-year-old Steven Ramos failed to yield right of way at a stop sign, colliding with a southbound motorcycle operated by 33-year-old Mark Helbert. Following the collision, the Toyota fled the scene of the accident. Helbert was taken to an area hospital with injuries he later died from. Ramos was arrested for failure to stop and render aid. Police indicated additional charges could be filed.
