What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have information on a crash that killed two people at US Hwy 69 in Tyler County, TX on October 16th, 2023. Police say the incident happened when a northbound Chevrolet Silverado allegedly crossed into an oncoming lane, striking a southbound Chevrolet Spark head-on. The crash left he driver of the Spark, 46-year-old Marlon McDaniel, with fatal injuries at the scene. A passenger, 45-year-old Hollis McDaniel, was also killed. The driver of the Silverado, identified as 61-year-old Don Houston, was hospitalized with injuries said to be non-life-threatening in nature. Police were not able to provide a possible cause for the collision, which they say happened around 5 a.m.
