What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at I-20 in Harrison County, TX on May 2nd, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 5:54 p.m. According to investigators, a Honda Civic was eastbound on I-20, approaching a disabled Ford Ecosport parked in a nearby shoulder. Authorities say the Honda veered from the road into the shoulder while attempting to pass other vehicles before striking the disabled Honda. Reports say an occupant of the Ford, identified as 82-year-old Mary Barber, was fatally injured. Seriously injured was 53-year-old Ford occupant, Colleen Barber, while an additional occupant, age 28 and not publicly identified, had possible, unconfirmed injuries. Authorities add the driver of the Honda, also not publicly identified, was seriously injured and charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault.
