What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one person involved at Hwy 281 near Hildebrand Ave in San Antonio, TX on March 21st, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 9 p.m. According to investigators, a Toyota 4Runner was southbound when another vehicle allegedly veered into its lane, causing it to veer out of its own lane. In the process, reports say the Toyota struck the rear of a trailer towed by a Ford F-350. The impact is said to have caused the Toyota to lose control and strike a nearby Dodge Dart, which then struck a Mazda. Reports say 63-year-old Mauro Mendoza Santos was helping to replace a tire on the Dodge at the time, and was struck in the impact, suffering fatal injuries. Reports allege the Toyota operator was not intoxicated and had not additional information to share.
