What Happened

El Paso Police are investigating a crash that killed a woman at I-10 in El Paso, TX on August 1st, 2021. Police say it happened around 1:3o a.m. A vehicle operated by Mario Ernesto Martel was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate when it collided head-on with a vehicle occupied by 33-year-old Mayvel Alexandra Morales. Morales was taken to an area hospital with injuries she died from. Six other people involved were hospitalized with various injuries. Martel, who responding officers say showed signs of intoxication, was arrested at the scene.
