What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials identified the person killed in a collision at FM 1402 in Titus County, TX in October 7th, 2021. Officials say the incident happened around 9:03 p.m. A Mazda B2500 operated by 28-year-old Meison Guevara Lopez was headed southbound on FM 1402 as it approached a curve in the road. Police say the vehicle failed to reduce its speed and veered from the road though a grass median before attempting to correct back onto the roadway. While attempting to do so, the vehicle went into a roll and overturned multiple times, partially ejecting Lopez from the vehicle before it landed on top of him, Lopez suffered fatal injuries while a 20-year-old passenger was seriously injured. Investigators believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
