What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a driver at US Hwy 190 near Livingston, TX on September 18th, 2021. Police say the incident involved a Chevrolet Traverse crossing a center line and striking a Chevrolet Silverado. The Traverse veered from the road into a tree, overturning in the process. The driver, 38-year-old Michael Helegda was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The other driver, 43-year-old William Jefferson, was not injured. Police say that Helegda allegedly smelled of alcohol at the scene and is expected to be charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
