What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash with injuries at Loop 571 in Rusk County, TX on June 23rd, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 12:07 a.m. Investigators say a Ford Fusion operated by an 18-year-old New Boston man was westbound on State Route 323, approaching the intersection with Loop 571. Police allege the vehicle failed to yield at the intersection before colliding with a Chevrolet Silverado operated by 48-year-old Michael Dean Oliver. The collision left a 61-year-old Silverado passenger with fatal injuries and a 49-year-old passenger with serious injuries. Oliver also suffered suspected serious injuries as well as a 22-year-old passenger in the Ford. A Failure to Yield Row at Stop Sign Intersection charge was recommended and/or issued.
