What Happened

Houston Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at Katy Fwy and Patterson in Houston, TX on May 6th, 2022. They say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Initial reports suggest that a pickup truck believed to be speeding allegedly ran a red light before crashing into a minivan. The driver of the minivan, 32-year-old Michael Wielenga, died at the scene while the pickup truck driver, 21-year-old Christian Gaulke, was determined to be impaired and is expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
