Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a driver at I-20 in Midland, TX on December 28th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 3:36 a.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Avenger operated by 28-year-old Michelle Melendez was westbound on an I-20 service road, nearing a portion of the roadway that was under construction. Reports say the vehicle traveled through construction barrels for unconfirmed reasons before proceeding into an area containing construction equipment. Officials say the vehicle also struck a cement utility pole, the impact causing Melendez to be ejected from the vehicle and causing fatal injuries at the scene.
