What Happened

Clay County Police are investigating a crash that killed a person at US 287 in Clay County, TX on July 22nd, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7 p.m. Police are saying a pickup truck operated by a 15-year-old is said to have lost control while headed northbound. It then struck a guardrail before losing control and overturning into a ditch. A passenger in the vehicle, 72-year-old Micueyla Garcia Duran, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Two other passengers, a 10-year-old and 40-year-old Steven Duran, were hospitalized along with the driver with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
