What Happened

Authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 289 in Pottsboro, TX on July 24th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 11:33 a.m. According to investigators, a Jeep Cherokee headed southbound is allotted to have collided with the rear of a Cadillac CTS yielding to another vehicle. Authorities say the driver of the Cadillac, identified as 82-year-old Minnie Gerdes, was seriously injured in the crash. Gerdes later passed away, however, it was not made clear if injuries from the crash played a factor. The other driver was not publicly identified and allegedly had minor injuries. A Failure to Control Speed charge was recommended and/or issued. Additional information was not immediately available.
