Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at State Hwy 48 in Cameron County, TX on June 20th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:24 a.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Versa operated by 21-year-old Mitchell Escobedo was headed westbound on State Hwy 48 as it approached a curve in the road at a speed that was alleged to be unsafe. It then collided with a center barrier, leaving Escobedo with serious injuries. Reports indicate charges for Unsafe Speed, Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility were recommended and/or issued.
