What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that injured a driver at TX 349 in Martin County, TX on October 16th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 12:15 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 28-year-old Baytown man was headed westbound on TX 176 while a Mercedes operated by 37-year-old Mittalbahen Patel was stopped at the stop sign for the intersection of TX 176 and TX 349. The tractor-trailer reportedly failed to yield right of way at the intersection and made a left turn, striking the Mercedes during the turn. Patel suffered serious injuries while a 16-year-old passenger was evaluated for possible injuries. The Baytown man was not injured and cited for Failure to Yield at Stop Intersection and Improper Driver License for Typer of Vehicle.
