What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at US 80 in Longview, TX on March 26th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 11:06 p.m. Investigators state the crash involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and Toyota Camry. They allege the Jeep disregarded a red light while headed westbound on Marshall Ave, colliding with a Toyota Camry headed northbound on HG Moseley. The Camry, operated by 84-year-old Nancy Irick, is believed to have had a green light at the time. The impact of the collision pushed the Toyota into a tree while the Jeep collided with a light pole. Irick suffered serious injuries in the collision she later died from. The driver of the Jeep, an unidentified 57-year-old Longview woman, suffered serious injuries. Officials recommend a Driving While Intoxicated charge.
