What Happened

Authorities have identified the person killed in a collision at US Hwy 69 in Cherokee County, TX on March 25th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:43 p.m. Reports say a tractor-trailer was allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed on wet roadways poor to losing control and entering into the path of a Dodge van. Following the collision, one of the two vehicles is said to have left the roadway and crashed into a nearby tree. Authorities say the driver of the Dodge, identified as 44-year-old Nicholas Schintgen, was fatally injured at the scene. The other driver, 38-year-old Nelson Terrell, had possible injuries.
