What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash at US 287 near Amarillo, TX on June 4th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 2:55 a.m. According to investigators, a Hyundai Sonata was struck by an 18-wheeler. Police say the Hyundai had been traveling northwest while the truck was headed southeast in a northbound lane prior to the vehicles colliding. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 22-year-old Noah Leyman, suffered fatal injuries at the scene. A passenger, 22-year-old June Scott, was hospitalized with injuries said to be life-threatening in nature. Police allege the truck driver and a passenger were uninjured and did not have additional information to share.
