What Happened

Dallas County Sheriff's Office officials are investigating a crash involving one of its officers at I-20 in Dallas, TX on September 21st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. According to sources, 24-year veteran officer Darrin McMichael was traveling to work via patrol unit as traffic ahead slow. Sources say the motorcycle made contact with a vehicle ahead, causing McMichael to fall from the vehicle into the road. They say he was then struck by an SUV that did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. McMichael suffered fatal injuries in the incident. Police say they are currently searching for the vehicle and driver involved.
