What Happened

Cleveland Police have details on a crash that killed one person at US 59 in Cleveland, TX on May 21st, 2023. Authorities say it happened sometime around 2:24 a.m. Investigators say authorities were in pursuit of a vehicle that lost control on the frontage road during a turn. The vehicle veered from the road, overturning several times and ejecting one of the occupants from the vehicle. That person, who was not publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle is said to have fled the sene of-foot prior to being arrested later. At this time, police have not provided any additional information.
