What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed one person involved at FM 509 in Weslaco, TX on November 15th, 2024. Officials ay the incident happened around 1:27 p.m. According to investigators, a Chevrolet Tahoe allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed lost control while attempting to return to its lane after passing a semi-truck. Officials say the Chevrolet collided with the rear of the truck before hitting the Hyundai. Officials say the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 77-year-old Oralia Garza, was  fatally injured. A passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized in critical condition, reprots say. Additional information was not available.
