What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a driver at State Hwy 80 in Caldwell County, TX on February 21st, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 7:35 p.m. According to investigators, a Dodge Ram 1500 operated by a 35-year-old San Marcos man was was reportedly attempting to turn left into an apartment complex parking lost when it turned into the path of an approaching motorcycle. The two vehicles, collided, ejecting the motorcyclist from the bike. Reports did not indicate which vehicle had right-of-way but did state the San Marcos man and a passenger exited the vehicle and attempted to render aid to the motorcyclist after the collision. The cyclist, identified as 50-year-old Oscar Soliz, suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The San Marcos man was not injured and reports indicate he was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
