What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a collision that injured a person at TX 144 in Granbury, TX on February 25th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 3:25 p.m. According to investigators, a Kia Forte operated by 51-year-old Robert Fitts was headed northbound on Hwy 144 when it veered from the road through a grass median. It then reportedly performed a fault evasive maneuver and returned to the roadway before colliding with a Dodge Ram 1500 preparing to make a left turn. It then collided with a southbound Dodge Ram 2500, causing serious injuries to 53-year-old passenger Patricia Benge. No other injuries were reported. Fitts was reportedly uninjured and reports indicate a Driving While Intoxicated charge was issued.
