Police say the incident happened around 1:01 p.m. According to investigators, a tractor-trailer headed southbound on I-10 while attempting to merge into a middle lane. Officials say the vehicle struck an Audi A-4 in the process. The driver of the Audi, identified as 49-year-old Patrick Wayne Hogan, suffered serious injuries, according to authorities.
