What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that injured a man at State Hwy 79 in Wichita Falls, TX on September 17th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 10:35 a.m. Investigators believe a Chevrolet Silverado C2500 was northwest before a large styrofoam block from its cargo allegedly fell into the roadway. Officials say an approaching second Chevrolet Silverado may not have had time to avoid colliding with the block, causing it to travel into a shoulder. Police say a 43-year-old passenger was seriously injured while the driver, 43-year-old Paul Salvador Lopez, suffered possible injuries. The other driver was not injured, according to police. Sources indicate a Failure to Secure Load charge was recommended and/or issued.
