Authorities are investigating a crash that injured a driver at US 69 in Angelina County, TX on February 6th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 1:28 p.m. Officials say a Chevrolet Silverado was headed northbound on US 69, approaching a Hyundai Tucson ahead stopped for a red traffic signal. Reports allege the driver of the Silverado claimed to have had his foot slip from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal, causing the vehicle to strike the stopped Hyundai. The impact is said to have caused the vehicles to veer from the road into a nearby ditch, the impact causing the Hyundai overturn and Chevrolet to strike e a fence. Reports indicate the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 74-year-old Perry Curry Jr, had injuries considered non-life-threatening. A passenger in the vehicle, age 80 and not publicly identified, was more seriously injured while the Chevrolet operator was allegedly uninjured.
