What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at US Hwy 67 in Coleman County, TX on November 21st, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 6 a.m. According to investigators, a pickup truck operated by 48-year-old Phillip Scott Mayfield, was westbound at the time. Also westbound on 67 was a tractor-trailer operated by 57-year-old Demmit Clayborne. Reports allege the pickup truck was on the wrong side of the road before colliding with the tractor-trailer. The crash left Mayfield with fatal injuries at the sene. Gray was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police say. Additional information was not immediately available.
