What Happened

Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a woman at US 60 in Castro County, TX on April 14th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. A tractor-trailer operated by 46-year-old Adelita Medeles was headed westbound on US 60 when it entered a turn lane to go left on FM 1057. A Chevrolet Malibu operated by 39-year-old Rachel Martinez was headed westbound when it allegedly failed to drive in a single lane and collided with the rear of the truck. Martinez suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Medeles was hospitalized with minor injuries and later released.
