What Happened

Authorities have information on a crash that killed a woman at I-35 in San Marcos, TX on July 14th, 2024. Police say the incident happened around 5:42 a.m. According to investigators, an SUV headed northbound on I-35 was struck by a Toyota minivan under unconfirmed circumstances. The impact is said to have caused the SUV to collide with a nearby exit sign before overturning and ejecting the driver. The driver,  identified as 34-year-old Rafael Arroyo Martinez, was hospitalized with minor injuries. A 70-year-old passenger was fatally injured, reports say.  Police also say the driver of the van, identified as 35-year-old Emmanuel Nicholas Martinez , allegedly fled the scene before later turning himself in on charges that include Collision Involving Death and Intoxication Manslaughter.
