What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a collision involving a pair of tractor-trailers at FM 1160 and FM 973 in Taylor, TX on May 18th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2 a.m. According to investigators, a flatbed tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on FM 1660 while a second 18-wheeler was headed northbound on FM 973. The first truck is believed to be the vehicle that collided with the second truck under unclear circumstances. One driver, identified as 48-year-old Ramiro Hernandez,  suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The other driver, a 46-year-old Kyle, TX man, suffered minor injuries and was charged with intoxication manslaughter. Additional information was not immediately available.
