What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that killed a person at US Hwy 83 in Rio Grande City, TX on April 17th, 2022. Police say it happened around 12:20 a.m. According to investigators, a Toyota Corolla operated by an unidentified 54-year-old Twin Lake, MI man was headed eastbound on US Hwy 83 in an inside lane. A Buick Enclave operated by a 32-year-old woman was headed westbound in an inside lane. The Corolla allegedly disregarded a stop sign at the intersection with Pete Solis Road and was struck by the Buick. A 52-year-old passenger in the Corolla, identified as Ramiro Trejo Jr, suffered fatal injuries in the collision. No one else involved reported injuries. Reports indicate the Twin Lake man was charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
