What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a man at US 79 in Panola County, TX on November 30th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:16 p.m. According to investigators, a Nissan Rogue operated by 60-year-old Randy Beasley was previously stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with FM 9 before proceeding forward. As the same time, a tractor trailer was in an outside lane of US 79, a second commercial truck approaching from the rear. Investigators say the second commercial truck performed a lane change to travel around the tractor-trailer as the Nissan proceeded into the intersection. Officials say the two vehicles collided, leaving Beasley and 43-year-old passenger, Tammy Beasley, seriously injured. Reports say both were hospitalized and Mr. Beasley later passed away from his injuries. Additional information was not immediately available.
