Area authorities have information on a crash that killed one person involved at US 62 in Brownfield, TX on June 13th, 2023. Police say the incident happened around 4:22 p.m. According to investigators, a Ford Explorer operated by 69-year-old Rebecca "Beckie" Melvin is believed to have been headed northbound on US 62 at the time. Police believe the vehicle collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer that was slowing ahead to performing a turn onto Hwy 137. The collision left Melvin with serious injuries and police say she was transported to an area hospital for treatment. She later died from her injuries. The driver of the truck, a 22-year-old Boynton Beach, FL man, was not injured, according to police. Additional details were not available.
