Police say the incident happened around 4:44 p.m. According to investigators, a commercial truck headed northbound on FM 244 is said to have left the road for unclear reasons before veering left across a center stripe. From there, reports say the vehicle was struck by an approaching Hyundai Palisade. The impact caused the Hyundai to leave the road, entering into a grass median and striking a warning sign while the truck overturned. Authorities say the driver of the Hyundai, identified as 40-year-old Renika Derry, was fatally injured.
