What Happened

Area authorities are investigating a crash that killed a person at I-10 and Transmountain in El Paso, TX on July 5th, 2021. Police say the incident happened around 3:37 p.m. A Ford Explorer operated by 72-year-old Reyna Ley-Montes reportedly veered from the road and crossed a dirt median before crossing into westbound lanes. It then collided with the right side of a tractor-trailer operated by 46-year-old Ismael Alfredo Duron Pasillas. The impact caused the Ford to veer from the road into a concrete embankment. Montes suffered serious injuries while her 7-year-old child was treated for minor injuries. She later died from her injures. Pasillas was not injured.
