What Happened

Area authorities have information on a crash that injured a person at FM 2253 in Bowie County, TX on January 12th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:50 p.m. A tractor-trailer operated by a 51-year-old McAllen man was headed southbound behind a Nissan Frontier operated by 56-year-old Ricky Dale Cockrum. Investigators allege the McAllen man was looking at traffic behind him when the truck failed to control its speed and collided with the Nissan, which was stopping to making a turn. Cockrum is said to have suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. Records indicate a charge of Failure to Control Speed was issued for the McAllen man and a Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility charge was recommended and/or issued against Cockrum.
