Texas Department of Public Safety officials are investigating a crash that killed a person at I-35W in Johnson County, TX on March 16th, 2022. Police say the incident happened around 2:11 p.m. Investigators are saying a Chevrolet Equinox operated by 76-year-old Rita Hughes was headed northbound in a far right lane on I-35 while a tractor-trailer was stopped in traffic ahead. Police believe the Equinox failed to control its speed and collided with the rear of the tract-trailer, causing Hughes fatal injuries. The other driver was not injured.
